What happens when we die?

Where do we go?

What becomes of all our hopes, our dreams and our aspirations?

Do you think every man has a premonition before he dies? Even the slightest hint.

Or does death really come swiftly, like a thief in the night?

Some say 2020 is the year the earth decided to purge itself, but I can’t understand why it’s the most sincere souls being taken. Isn’t a purge meant to cleanse the world of evil?

I’m angry at the world, there’s so much injustice, inequality and suffering. I question philosophy, religion and spirituality more often than I’d like to admit.

I know there’s a higher power, there has to be. Because everything that happens in life can’t be as a result of electrons and molecules like science would have us believe. Life is way too complex and unprecedented.

All some people ever know on earth is suffering. In Nigeria, that is the reality of about 80% of the population — abject poverty. This is why this question is so important “what happens when we die?”.

Does eternal peace come next? or does one just exist in limbo watching the loved ones they left on earth grow old?

Have you noticed the trend when a person dies? It all about the highlights. We suddenly start to appreciate all the things we took for granted. We are suddenly reminded of the all the things we wish we had done. The calls we wish we had made. The gifts we wish we had given and the words we wish we had said — ”I love you”, “I appreciate you”, “I’m grateful for you”.

I don’t have answers to the questions I’ve asked, and I’m sure you don’t either. But I’ll leave you with this — live everyday like it’s your last, live a life without regret. Be kind, be intentional, be tolerant, be honest and most importantly, be happy, because we really don’t know what happens when we die.
